Long story short-y
Like most creative ideas, our studio has had many iterations. Before we were Shorty’s, we were Light Lab, a creator’s space founded and operated by the brilliant Anne Sage and Caroline Lee.
In 2022 Helen Joel, a.k.a. Shorty sold the studio space and it is now Salt Worth Studio.
LA Based, Creativity Bred
Shorty’s Studio is a production-focused creative studio founded on the belief that creatives have so much to offer. We’ve watched creators of all kinds bring their enthusiasm and energy to project after project—and here, we want to give them the space and support they deserve. At Shorty’s, we connect collaborators to creatives and creatives to everything they need to do their thing, their way.
We welcome you (yes you!) to join us in the studio, let your creative ideas loose, and shoot your shot. We can’t wait to see the goods.
A note from Shorty
Hey there!
I’m Helen, or as I’m known around the studio, Shorty. An Atlanta native, who found my stride on the left coast.
Shorty is a nickname that was given to me by my grandfather, Poppy—the most energetic, fun-loving, and genuine source of positive energy that I’ve ever known. Poppy was the biggest cheerleader for all of his grandchildren, and a constant reminder of how much we can accomplish when others believe in us.
After nearly a decade working in startups, I’m honoring Poppy’s spirit while pursuing my greater purpose: empowering creatives of all kinds to shoot their shot. It’s my hope that when you open the doors to Shorty’s, you’ll feel inspired by the undeniable energy, community, and potential that fills this space.
I’ve left the keys in the lockbox. What comes next is up to you.
Happy creating,
Shorty
